Quetta Gladiators’ batsman Tom Banton has become the second overseas cricketer to test positive for COVID-19 in the ongoing Pakistan Super League. Earlier, Islamabad United’s leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed had contracted the virus on Monday. As a result, the match between United and Gladiators was postponed to Tuesday.

England cricketer Banton revealed the news on Twitter and said that he has been sent in isolation. The 22-year-old added that he was feeling "OK" and was being well looked by PCB and his franchise. Banton thanked everyone for their support while also advising people to look after themselves.
PSL 2021 to remain unaffected despite COVID-19 scare
PCB media director Sami Ul Hasan assured that they are taking all the steps to ensure that the ongoing season of Pakistan Super League can continue as per plans. He said, “The organizing committee has already sent out a reminder to everyone to exercise extra caution, that involves using a face mask, avoid wandering on the hotel floor etc.”
Mr. Hasan agreed that these are challenging times for PCB. He added that they are trying everything to protect the integrity and credibility of the tournament. The PCB media director also affirmed that they have an agreement of scheduling 34 matches and are not even considering the option of minimizing the number of matches in PSL 2021.
