Rajasthan Royals’ spinning wizard Ravichandran Ashwin made a significant contribution to the franchise against PBKS in the IPL 2024. The 2008 winners hosted the Punjab-based franchise for the 65th fixture of the IPL 2024 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The ‘El-Clasico’ of the tournament saw home skipper Sanju Samson winning the toss and inviting the rivals to field first.
RR, who secured their playoff quota on Tuesday were high on confidence; however, their confidence started to shatter when their high-powered batting lineup seemingly surrendered to the PBKS’ bowling lineup. The Royals lost Yashashvi Jaiswal on four while Kohler Cadmore returned to the pavilion after scoring 18 runs off 23 balls.
Ashwin came in to bat at five for the side and played a decent knock of 28 runs off 19 deliveries before getting out on Arshdeep Singh’s delivery. His knock drew attention from fans and they took to X to heap praise on the spinning ace.
The Royals put up an easy score of 144 runs off nine wickets on the board.
