20km race walkers Vikash Singh and Paramjeet Singh Bisht qualified for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. The Indian duo surpassed the qualification criteria on Sunday (March 19) during the Asian 20km Race Walking Championships.

 

While Vikash Singh finished second clocking 1:20:05 seconds, Paramjeet Singh Bisht finished third, just three second behind Vikash clocking 1:20:08 seconds. With this timing, the two Indian athletes also clinched the qualification mark of the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

 

It is to be noted that the qualification  mark of the two world events is 1:20:10. While Vikash managed to breach the mark by five seconds, Paramjeet Singh was able to surpass the qualification with two seconds'  mark.


Akshdeep Singh, who has already secured the qualification at the 2024 Paris Olympics, clinched the gold clocking 1:20:57. Suraj Panwar and Hardeep were the other two Indians in the open category who failed to breach the mark. Meanwhile, Munita Ptajapati (1:33:22) and Bhawna Jat (1:36:20) also missed the 2024 Olympics and World Championship qualification mark of 1:29:20 by a big margin.
