The newly appointed Tournament Director of the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters David Massey on March 14 confirmed that list of twenty world tennis players who will be part of the upcoming edition of the ATP Masters 1000. The announcement of the 20 out of 20 was made during the press lunch organised in Paris.
It is to be noted that the 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal will return to action after recovering from a hip flexor injury. The Spanish tennis star sustained an injury during the first Grand Slam of the year Australian Open and has been out of action since his exit from the tournament.
The Spaniard has also withdrawn from the ongoing Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open due to Grade 2 injury in his left leg.
“Rafa was the first player to sign up. He wants to play in Monaco and is giving himself every chance to be able to participate in this tournament that he loves so much, and which he has won eleven times in singles, including a record eight consecutive titles between 2005 and 2012,” said David Massey during the press lunch.
The ATP Super 1000 tournament which will be played between 8-16 April features world class players including World no. 1 Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Taylor Fritz, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Rafael Nadal to name a few.
