In a big update it has been revealed that Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is set to join the squad ahead of the first Test of the much-awaited Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. On Tuesday (January 31) it was reported that Jadeja has regained complete fitness and was also seen playing a crucial role in Saurashtra’s last group stage fixture, registering a seven-wicket haul.

Notably, Ravindra Jadeja injured his knee during the 2022 Asia Cup and failed to return despite being named in the India squad for Bangladesh Tests. His last appearance in the longest format of the game was against England in Edgbaston in August 2022.

However, the Indian dressing room also has some concerns as Shreyas Iyer is still recovering from back stiffness and is currently rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru. With this, Iyer’s inclusion for the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy remains under cloud.

“His injury hasn’t healed as expected and he will take two weeks at least to play cricket again. He will certainly not be available for the first test and his availability for the second Test will be subject to fitness report,” a BCCI source was quoted by Indian Express.

Suryakumar Yadav to make Test debut in Nagpur

If reports are to be believed, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to make his Test debut in Nagpur. Notably, the four-match Test series is scheduled to kick start from February 9 in Nagpur, followed by the second Test scheduled to take place in Delhi.
