The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has reached its penultimate stage and in the final, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3. However, both teams had a similar season, securing nine wins from 14 games each, the Rajat Patidar-led RCB cruised into the final after beating PBKS in Qualifier 1.
After having secured the top of the table position in the IPL 2025 standings, PBKS were handed a second chance and they made the most of it as they went onto beat one of the most successful sides, Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Qualifier 2 on Sunday, June 1 to once again face RCB, but this time for the coveted title. But with the final set to start in just a few hours, the biggest question arises is will we see a full 20-over-per-side game?
Is there a reserve day for IPL 2025 Final?
This comes especially seeing the Qualifier 2, which was played between PBKS and MI on June 1 see a delayed start by over two hours. With the venue being the same as Qualifer 2 for the IPL 2025 Final, it has to be seen if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has some concrete plans of moving the match into the reserve day if the scheduled day sees a wash out.
Just like the last few seasons, yes, the BCCI has kept a reserve day for the IPL 2025 final. If the summit clash in Ahmedabad on June 3 is washed out due to rain after utilising the extra two hours of play, there is a reserve day in place on June 4. But in case of the reserve day also failing to see any action possible, the team that finished higher in the IPL 2025 points table, will be crowned the winner of the season.
