Antony’s story has been one of the best redemption arcs in modern football as the struggling winger has put behind the ghosts of his past at Manchester United and excelled at Real Betis during his ongoing loan stint. With 9G/A since arriving in January 2025, Antony has put in some wonderful performances and match-winning goals and is rallying heavily behind his club’s efforts of qualifying for the Champions League next season. He scored in Betis’s recent 3-1 victory over Girona, which was in important step towards finishing in the UCL spots in the La Liga table.

In the view of all of this, while Antony is set to return to Manchester United at the end of the current season with his current loan deal expiring soon, it is understood that Real Betis want to keep him at the club for another season. However, Betis is supposedly exploring a season-long loan deal option as signing the player on a permanent transfer as of now would be difficult for the club, given his hefty price tag. Betis midfielder Isco had also previously joked about bringing Antony in permanently by saying that the club will have to do crowd-funding for the same.

Will decide what to do at the end of the season: Ruben Amorim on Manchester United players who are out on loan

It is understood that Betis will try and get Antony on board for a season-long deal before attempting to sign him on a permanent deal, if things go the way they have planned. Antony is not the only player who is set to return to Manchester United from a loan tenure, as his compatriot Marcus Rashford is also out on loan with Aston Villa currently.

While both of these players are enjoying a good run of form at their respective loan teams, it will be interesting to see whether United’s manager Ruben Amorim decides to let these players leave the club or retains them for his squad rebuild for next season. Speaking about the same recently, Amorim said, “All players on loan will return and then the club will decide what to do at the end of the season. The talent of Rashford, Antony… we are really happy because if you put players on loan you want them to perform.”
