The Copa Del Rey final is set to be contested on Saturday night between two Spanish heavyweights; FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. The last time we saw an El Clasico in the Spanish domestic cup final was back in 2014 during the era of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. And while these two names might not be playing in Europe currently, the stakes of this rivalry have remained equally high if not higher, thanks to the new-age superstars present in both the teams. And one of the names at the forefront of all the glory this season has been teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.
The 17-year-old had a breakthrough season under former manager Xavi Hernandez and has been one of Hansi Flick’s main attacking weapons this season as well. With 36 G/A already, stats and numbers don’t do justice to the sheer quality this youngster possess and he has been pivotal for the club’s success in the current season. Yamal has once again taken centre-stage among the different happenings before this high-octane clash with his cryptic Instagram story and beanie cap being seen in training videos.
Yamal seen wearing beanie cap during training ahead of Copa Del Rey final
Lamine Yamal took to his Instagram page and posted a story before the Copa Del Rey final against Madrid which has got all the fans going crazy. The story contained visuals with written text saying, "Silence speaks louder. Volume off. Mission's not over yet.” This comes amongst all the noise around Real Madrid’s criticism of the match officials which have increased the stakes of this heated tie. Another reason why Yamal has been in the spotlight before the final has been his beanie cap look during training, which has been worn to conceal his new hairstyle.
Flick also spoke about the same during his press conference, reiterating the confidence he has in his 17-year-old winger. He said, “Lamine Yamal is an incredible player! I think he will be ready tomorrow. And you will be surprised when you see the training now. He has something special for you.” Although Yamal covered his head with a beanie cap during training, it is being reported that he dyed his hair blonde which has drawn parallels to Neymar Jr. and even Lionel Messi, who had done the same during their Barcelona tenure.
