Defending LaLiga champions Real Madrid are the only club in Europe's elite leagues to maintain a perfect record by winning all their four fixtures in LaLiga 2022-23. Recently, the Spanish club have released a statement that their forward Vinicius Jr obtained duel-nationality by adopting Spanish citizenship.

According to LaLiga rules, a club can involve only five non-European Union players in their squad while only three can be played in a matchday squad.

Previously, Real Madrid included Vinicius Jr, Eder Militao, and Rodrygo in the squad as non-EU players. After Vinicius has obtained Spanish citizenship, the LaLiga champions can sign another non-EU player in the winter transfer window.

Real Madrid released a statement, "Real Madrid CF announces that our Brazilian player Vinicius Junior swore to the Spanish Constitution last Friday, September 2, so from that moment he also has Spanish nationality. "

Real Madrid signed Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr from Flamengo in 2018 and last season the 22-year-old scored 22 goals and 20 assists in 52 matches in all tournaments for the Spanish club. This season Vinicius has scored three goals and two assists in five matches across all tournaments.

The defending champions will begin their UEFA Champions League 2022-23 campaign on Tuesday as they take on the likes of Scottish club Celtic in their first Group F fixture at the Celtic Park.
