Following the tough 2-3 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly set to hold talks once again with Brazil for the coaching role. The 65-year-old is expected to be a part of a meeting with the representatives of the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF), to potentially take over as the men’s national team coach before the next round of the World Cup 2026 Qualifiers in June.

In the post-match interview after Real Madrid went down in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, when Carlo Ancelotti was asked about his future at the Galacticos, he avoided it. The Italian was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “A topic for the next weeks, not today,” following which the reports have emerged that he is looking to stay in touch with CBF, in regards to potentially making his next move in his managerial career.

Dorival Junior was sacked from Brazil's head coach role after 1-4 defeat against Argentina

It is also revealed that Brazilian businessman Diego Fernandes, acting on behalf of CBF as a representative, is in Spain currently, and he was watching the Copa del Rey final. The report from BBC Sport went on to state that Fernandes arrived in the European country, to try his hands at persuading Ancelotti to join Brazil as their new head coach as soon as possible.

If the Brazilians are able to get Carlo Ancelotti to sign on the dotted line after the conclusion of the 2024-25 season with Real Madrid, then he will not be taking the Galacticos to the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer. The former head coach of Brazilian men’s football team was Dorival Junior, who got sacked from the job after losing 1-4 to arch-rivals Argentina in Buenos Aires in the World Cup 2026 Qualifiers last month.
