Real Madrid’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti’s future has come under a lot of scrutiny recently with several reports suggesting that an exit is on the cards for the Italian tactician. The rumours intensified this week after Real Madrid suffered a humiliating defeat to Arsenal in the quarter-final of the Champions League and were knocked out of the tournament. With a tough LaLiga fixture against Athletic Bilbao tonight, a lot of pundits and fans are speculating that Carlo’s future depends on the result of tonight’s match as a loss or draw could put them in a tough position in the Spanish League race after Barcelona’s victory yesterday which took them 7 points clear to the top of the table.

While Ancelotti's current contract runs until June 2026, a lot of reports have suggested that Ancelotti might not continue with Los Blancos and could be leaving the club as early as before the start of the Club World Cup, which is set to be held in mid-June. Ancelotti has had a superb second spell in charge of Madrid winning 11 trophies in just four seasons, including 2 Champions League titles. Although Ancelotti has clarified in a recent interview that his future with the club is far from decided yet, there is increasing pressure and outside news suggesting different.

Xabi Alonso named as favourite to replace Ancelotti at Real Madrid

In the light of all these developments, it is also reported that the Brazilian national team is the number one destination where Carlo Ancelotti could be next. Brazil have struggled to find stability and character in the dressing room after changing multiple managers in the recent years and will look at Ancelotti to instil a sense of confidence in the players and bring back the laurels they previously had.

It is also being reported that Brazil’s football federation authorities are keen in accelerating the process of getting Ancelotti on board with the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon. As for Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso remains to be the favourite to take over the rein at Bernabeu.
