Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Liverpool right-back, has confirmed that he will leave his boyhood club at the end of the 2024-25 season after his current contract expires with them. The 26-year-old is expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent for next season, but with the Galacticos already qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, they have offered Liverpool a £1 million deal to have him play the tournament for them this summer.
Notably, the current contract of Trent Alexander-Arnold with Liverpool runs until June 30, and with that, Real Madrid won’t be able to have him join them as free agent for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which is set to happen from June 15 to July 13. To bypass this situation, Real Madrid have contacted Liverpool, to sign him before his contract with the Merseyside club expires, and for that to happen, they have offered them some money as well.
Liverpool will be able to make savings on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s salary if they accept Real Madrid’s offer
As per the financial expert Stefan Borson, who spoke to the Football Insider about the latest development, Liverpool will be able to make savings on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s salary if they accept Real Madrid’s offer. He was quoted as saying, “I would think they will reach an agreement. It won’t be very much. I know people have talked about big numbers here, but you’ve got to remember, from the end of the season until the end of June, Liverpool are basically paying for somebody else’s player to be on holiday.”
“They may want to sort of prevent him from playing for Real, but I doubt it because I think they’re having to pay quite a lot of money for that. It’s going to be well over £1 million for them to pay his salary while he’s on holiday for June,” he further added. Moreover, during his illustrious career with Liverpool, which began in 2016, Trent Alexander-Arnold has managed to win the Premier League title twice apart from claiming the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup titles once.
