Liverpool are set to face Arsenal on Sunday, May 11, at Anfield in one of the few remaining games of the current Premier League season. While the match has zero implications for Liverpool, who has already won the league title, Arsenal will be looking solidify their second place in the table amidst a heated race for the Champions League spots just below them. Speaking to the media in the pre-match press conference, Arne Slot spoke about the upcoming departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has confirmed that he will be leaving the club at the end of the current season.
Trent, who is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy, has been in the club’s ecosystem for the last 10 years and has risen up the ranks to secure his place as a confirmed starter in the playing XI. He was instrumental for Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool, contributing in both the offensive and defensive phases of the game. He went on to win one Premier League title and one Champions League title under Klopp, followed by the recent league success under new manager Arne Slot.
Conor Bradley to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in upcoming game against Arsenal
Despite all this, Trent has made the decision to leave to club, and will most likely join Real Madrid in the summer. While Slot did mention that all of the team members along with the fans were disappointed about Trent’s departure, he also said that it was a regular affair for him in his managerial journey to see big players leave the club. He also mentioned about how this provides an opportunity for another player to step up and fill in his void.
He said, “If someone, a very good player is leaving, the next very good player will step up. And that’s probably what’s going to happen now as well.” In light of this, Slot also confirmed that Conor Bradley is set to start in Liverpool’s upcoming game against Arsenal, with Trent on the bench. He said that this was for Bradley to gain some valuable experience before the upcoming season starts.
