The managerial saga around Real Madrid managerial position seems to be coming to an end finally with reports emerging that Carlo Ancelotti’s successor; Xabi Alonso, is on track to take over the reins at Bernabeu. It is being said that the agreement between Los Blancos and the ex- Real Madrid midfielder has never been a problem and has been agreed upon since quite some time ago. It was Carlo Ancelotti’s exit process that was causing some hinderances in the entire process.
But it is now being reported that Carlo Ancelotti will most likely leave the club after May 25, which is the last matchday of the 2024-25 LaLiga campaign. Ancelotti is not expected to be with the club for the FIFA Club World Cup and will most likely join the Brazil national team. The football federation of Brazil has been wanting Ancelotti to take over for quite some time in light of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup and it seems like Ancelotti will join the team soon.
Cesc Fabregas emerges as top candidate to replace Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen
Xabi Alonso's current suitors Bayer Leverkusen seem to be adequately informed about Xabi’s desire to coach Real Madrid and therefore leave his current role at some point of time. They have therefore already started to look for replacements for the 43-year-old Spanish manager, with Cesc Fabregas, Xavi Hernandez and Erik Ten Hag appearing to be the top candidates. Xavi had also garnered interest from the Saudi Pro League especially after the sacking of Jorge Jesus at Al Hilal.
Ancelotti, on the other hand, seems to be on course to receive a befitting farewell for his second stint at Real Madrid. In his four years in charge of the Los Blancos, the Italian tactician has won 11 trophies, including two Champions League titles. He has been rather unsuccessful in the current season after losing out in the Copa Del Rey and Champions League, but still has the LaLiga title to fight for with 4 games remaining.
