Spanish giants Real Madrid have completed the signing of sensational England midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, the club announced on Wednesday. While talking about the new signing, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos aimed a dig at Belgian star Eden Hazard, who had a disastrous spell at the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid brought 19-year-old Bellingham to the Santiago Bernabeu on an initial $111 million contract, with add-ons possibly taking his contract to $145 million, which would make him the most expensive British player ever. Bellingham will face the media on Thursday for his official confirmation as a Real Madrid player and has signed a six-year deal with Los Blancos.

While asked about his views on the English midfielder's hefty transfer fee, Toni Kroos said on his  Einfach mal Luppen podcast, " €103m transfer fee? We now also had someone who came for a lot of money and virtually let his career rest.  A lot of money and I think everyone would say in retrospect: That was not such a good transfer."

Eden Hazard was signed by Real Madrid for an initial $112 million in 2019 from Chelsea, with add-ons potentially taking the deal to around $164 million. Hazard played 73 matches for the 14-time UCL winners across all competitions in his four years at the Bernabeu and recorded just seven goals and 11 assists.

However, the German midfield maestro stated his 'confidence' in the Real Madrid management and also believed that the English midfielder will not follow the Belgian's steps as Kroos asserted "Jude is a very top player". He said, "But now let’s start from the positive. Jude is a very top player, who many teams wanted due to his quality and age. I usually have great confidence in our decision-makers. If Real Madrid has spent so much, this is a very good transfer for us."
