Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has reportedly received a fitness clearance from the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. This No Objection Certificate (NoC) permits Pant to play in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024. The wicketkeeper batter will be making his comeback after suffering a horrific accident in December 2022 while driving from Delhi to Roorkee.

Pant had been announced as DC's captain for IPL 2024 earlier this year after Australian great David Warner took the reins in the previous season. But now after a 15-month break, Pant was slated to return to professional cricket but needed his NOC from the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where he was recovering over the recent past.

Now, as reported by Sports Tak,  Rishabh Pant has been cleared to be fit and will suit up for the Delhi-based franchise. Ahead of the 2024 season, DC head coach Ricky Ponting expressed that Pant himself is extremely confident about returning to the team. Ponting also revealed that the Capitals management isn't expecting to see Pant wicket keep this season.

Not sure if we’ll get wicketkeeping out of him this year: Ponting on Pant

“Rishabh is very confident that he’s going to be right to play,” Ponting said as he was unveiled as coach of Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket. “In what capacity we’re not quite sure yet. You would have seen all the social media stuff, he’s up and about and running well.

"But in saying that, we’re only six weeks away from the first game as well. So we’re not sure if we’ll get wicketkeeping out of him this year. But I’ll guarantee if I asked him now he’ll say, ‘I’m playing every game, I’m keeping every game and I’m batting at No.4.’ That’s just what he’s like, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.”
