Rohit Sharma-led Team India secured a clinical win in the first two games of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy to retain the title for the fourth time on the trot. Rohit Sharma was leading the side for the first time in a high-stake bilateral series Border-Gavaskar and impressed everyone with his incredible leadership skills.

Not just that, but Rohit also stood tall against fierce Aussies in the 1st game when he smashed his ninth century in the format.  Rohit held the fort from one end as the other top-order batters faltered way too early in the game. While Rohit is having a great time as a captain and as a batter, a former Indian captain has raised serious questions about his fitness standards.

While speaking at ABP News, Kapil Dev insisted that Rohit needs to work on his fitness and agility as he looks ‘overweight’ on TV.

“It is very important to be fit. More so for a captain. It’s a shame if you are not fit. Rohit needs to put some hard work on it. He is a great batter but when you talk about his fitness, he looks a bit overweight, at least on TV. Yes, it’s different when you look at someone on TV and then in real life. But from whatever I see, Rohit is a great player and a great captain, but he needs to get fit. Look at Virat, whenever you see him, you say ‘that’s some fitness,” Kapil Dev said.

Meanwhile, the former world-cup-winning player recently hosted a batch of the 83-world cup-winning players at his home in Delhi. Gavaskar and Shastri were joined by their 1983 World Cup-winning teammates Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Kirti Azad and Sunil Valson.
