On Friday, December 27, the Indian cricket team once again faced some heat as they continued their struggles with both bat as well as ball. After the Indian bowlers struggled to find themselves among the wickets with the hosts, Australia posting 474 runs, the Indian batters showed disappointing signs, getting dismissed cheaply, except Yashasvi Jaiswal.

While Rohit Sharma once again had a disappointing outing, getting out at the score of three, KL Rahul also could not do much with the bat after being demoted at No. 3. While at this time, Yashasvi Jaiswal was looking good, but he too had to depart following a mix-up involving Virat Kohli. Seeing the Indian skipper’s performance in the ongoing series, former Indian cricketer and Chief Selector MSK Prasad hit out at Rohit Sharma.

He's been struggling a bit both with his bat and also in captaincy: MSK Prasad on Rohit Sharma

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter MSK Prasad took a dig at Team India skipper Rohit Sharma, who was dismissed at the score of three. While he called out Rohit Sharma’s run with the bat as “ordinary”, he questioned his captaincy, terming it “pathetic”. "You really raised the topic of Rohit Sharma's captaincy. Heading into this series, you know, we had our 3-match series against New Zealand. It was pathetic. It never happened in the history of Indian cricket that we lost back-to-back 3 games. Rohit got absolutely no runs in that series, so he comes into this series. He didn't play the first game. Bumrah led the side very well, so Rohit comes after the backdrop of continuous failures," MSK Prasad said while speaking on commentary on Day 2 of Boxing Day Test.

Seeing Rohit Sharma in lose form in the ongoing series, MSK Prasad further went onto voice his frustration during his commentary stint on Day 2. He called Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, batting “clueless”. "I personally feel that has got a direct impact, you know, if you see that, you know, captain, you know, if he comes with some sort of form that has direct impact on the side and he comes after a series of failures and that has clearly shown the way he led the side also he's not proactive on many occasions,” MSK Prasad continued.

“If you see in this Test match itself, you know, he had 11 over being bowled by Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah on a trot, especially when Sam Konstas was going tongs and tongs and that's has been the case with his captaincy. He's been struggling a bit both with his bat and also in captaincy," the ex-India selector added.

Rohit Sharma has had a horror series with the bat so far, making just 22 runs in four innings at an average of 5.50. The 37-year-old has had a nightmare run with the bat since India’s Test summer started against Bangladesh in September. He has scored 156 runs in 14 innings at an average of 11.07.
