West Indies batter Rovman Powell has been ruled out of the T20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan. During the fourth T20I against Australia, held at Werner Park, he picked up a wrist injury while attempting to grab a catch. In the first T20I played against the Men in Green in Florida, he wasn't a part of West Indies' playing XI. Powell is a crucial member of the Caribbean side as his hard-hitting skills help his side to snatch victory from opponents in the final overs of the game.

However, in the series against the Aussies, he looked ineffective. Appearing in four contests, he could score only 50 runs at a strike rate of 113.63 and an average of 12.50. Following Powell's injury, the Windies side confirmed of not naming his replacement.

West Indies going through toughest phase

West Indies are going through the toughest phase of their cricketing history. They lost to Australia at home in all eight matches. After getting whitewashed in the three-match Test series, Cricket West Indies called an emergency meeting to discuss the decline of their team with three iconic players Vivian Richards, Clive Lloyd, and Brian Lara.

Following this meeting, the Windies side got thumped by the Men in Yellow by 5-0 in the T20I competition. West Indies have recorded an unprecedented decline in the last few months but their fans will be hopeful of their comeback in the T20I World Cup 2026, set to be played in India and Sri Lanka. Alongside England and India, the Caribbean side are the most successful team in the T20 World Cup with two titles, in terms of winning the trophy. Their last trophy win came in 2016 after beating England in the final, played at the iconic Eden Gardens.
