Arturas Rudys, the player of Wisbech Rugby Club, has tragically died on the pitch while playing against Diss Rugby Football Club, during an Eastern Counties First Division game, on Saturday, October 14. The 27-year-old had collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest, following a heavy tackle, and despite the efforts of the paramedics to resuscitate him through CPR and defibrillator, he sadly passed away on the scene.

Following the unfortunate turn of events at Chapel Road, Wisbech, it was announced that the game had been abandoned as a mark of respect for Arturas Rudys. His girlfriend, Jolita, has launched a GoFundMe page since then, while revealing that they have a two-year-old boy together, who is named Emilijus.

Her post on the platform read, “My name is Jolita, I’m the girlfriend of Arturas Rudys. We have been together 4 years, also we have a little child - Emilijus. He is only 2-years old. My partner just passed away on the rugby competition in Wisbech. It’s been very quickly and like in a dream.

“It’s very very hard time for us right now.. I can't give up, I have to live and show the right path to the our child. I have never asked for money yet, but I want to reach out to you and ask for help…. Thank you all!,” she added.

The Wisbech Rugby Club, paid tribute post to Arturas Rudys on their website, sharing the link of it in a post on X, which read, “On behalf of everyone at the RFU, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Arturas Rudys who tragically died yesterday. The thoughts of everyone in the game are with @wisbechrugby, their players, members and the wider rugby community.”
