Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) returned to winning ways after registering defeat in their tournament opener on March 22 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). After inviting the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings to bat first, the visitors posted 176/6 in their stipulated 20 overs, courtesy skipper’s 37-ball 45. 

But it was Virat Kohli’s return to form and crucial 77-run knock along with Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror’s blistering finish that helped the hosts register a comfortable four-wicket win with four balls remaining. Apart from the loud cheer and support from the home crowd, Virat Kohli was involved in an on-field banter with PBKS spinner Harpreet Brar on Monday, March 25.

Brar, who seemed in a hurry to start his third over at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru when RCB needed 74 runs to win. The incident occurred at the start of the 12th over with Glenn Maxwell on strike and Virat Kohli batting at 63 off 38 balls. Soon after this breather from Virat Kohli, Harpreet Brar clean bowled Glenn Maxwell on the first delivery of the over. Notably, it was the fourth time he got Maxwell out in the IPL.
