Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Leicester City manager, has dismissed fears of getting sacked in the new job after a disastrous run for the club in the Premier League recently. Following his appointment as the manager of Leicester City just around two months ago, the 48-year-old was asked about whether he is worried about losing his job, to which he responded that his focus is on getting the team out of the troublesome times, and that’s his only concern.
Notably, Leicester City have lost their last seven matches in the Premier League, to find themselves second from bottom, two points from safety under Ruud van Nistelrooy, who took charge of the club after the sacking of Steve Cooper in November. Another defeat this weekend at Tottenham would equal the club record run of eight losses in a row in the Premier League, which was set in 2001.
Leicester City have won two out of 10 matches in all competitions since Ruud van Nistelrooy's arrival
In the 10 matches in all competitions since Ruud van Nistelrooy has been the manager, Leicester City have won just two, which includes a 6-2 win in the FA Cup third round against Queens Park Rangers. In his latest press conference ahead of the Tottehman clash in London, he addressed the question about doubts on his job after the poor showing from the club on the field in the past month.
He was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “I'm focused on getting this team out of the situation, that's my only concern.” The Dutchman also talked about how he is trying to get Leicester City past the tough times, and said, I'm with the players, working with everyone at Leicester to get the best out of this squad, and in difficult times. In tough times, you need to be strong, show character, work and persist and be committed.”
“We are united and committed. That is the spirit and you can see that on the pitch. I can see a team with spirit and fight. If we continue this run will end,” Ruud van Nistelrooy further added.
