Team India legend Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar has got engaged to Saaniya Chandok, the granddaughter of renowned Mumbai-based businessman Ravi Ghai. Arjun, 25, is a left-handed pacer who hit the headlines earlier this year for switching his allegiance for Goa from Mumbai. Arjun has also been a part of the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champion team Mumbai Indians (MI) since 2021. Talking about Saaniya, she is known for staying away from the media attention. She hails from one of Mumbai’s most illustrious business families. The Ghai family holds a strong clout in the hospitality and food industries, owning the InterContinental hotel.
Sanniya’s grandfather Ravi Iqbal Ghai is the chairman of Graviss Hospitality Ltd, a family-owned conglomerate with deep roots in the hospitality and ice cream industries. Ravi has taken his father IK Krishnan’s legacy ahead with the iconic Kwality Ice Cream brand and the InterContinental hotel situated on Mumbai’s Marine Drive. As per reports, the engagement was a private ceremony which recorded the attendance of close friends and family from both sides.
Arjun Tendulkar’s journey in competitive cricket
Arjun Tendulkar broke into competitive cricket with his domestic debut for Mumbai in the T20 match against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 game. The same year, he was snapped up by MI but didn’t get a chance to feature in Mumbai’s playing XI. In November 2022, he also made his List A debut for Goa against Alur (2).
A month later, he also entered First-Class cricket with his maiden contest for Goa against Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season. Discussing Arjun’s bowling numbers, he has bagged 89 wickets in 59 domestic matches. In IPL, he has picked up three wickets in five matches for Mumbai.
