After playing her last Grand Slam at the Australian Open 2023, followed by playing her last match of professional tennis at the Dubai Open, Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza is all set to play one final match in India. After playing her last few games around the world, the tennis star wishes to play her farewell match in India in front of her home crowd.

 

The 36-year-old will play her farewell match at Hyderabad’s Lal Bahadur Stadium on March 5. She will participate in handful of exhibition matches as a part of the tournament.

 

“I’m all set to play my last-ever tennis match, exactly where it all started for me 18-20 years ago… and I will have all my close friends, my family, and my partner coming and I can’t wait to play in front of you one last time,” Sania Mirza said as quoted by the Olympics website.

 

It is to be noted that several TV stars and actors and cricketers are likely to be present for this final goodbye. The six-time Grand Slam champion will play two exhibition matches, first will be rounders game between two teams comprised of actors, cricketers and tennis players. As per the information available, Mirza will lead one team while her long-time partner in tennis Rohan Bopanna will take the charge of the other team.

 

The second game of the two is said to be a mixed doubles tennis match with Mirza and Bopanna pairing against Ivan Dodig and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
