He appeared dazed and unsteady as he got up and walked to the sideline. He was then examined by the Seahawks’ medical staff in the tent behind the bench. After several minutes, he was placed on a backboard as a precautionary measure and carted across the field to an ambulance. He was then transported to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center for evaluation of potential head and neck injuries.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed after the game that Johnson had suffered a concussion but said that there were no other findings beyond that. He also said that Johnson had movement in his extremities and was in stable condition at the hospital. Carroll praised Johnson’s toughness and expressed his hope that he would recover soon.
Carroll shared added: “I think he got concussed, but there were no findings beyond that at this point, so we got a real good report, the early one, I’m hoping that’s conclusive, but that’s what we heard. They just went to the max precautions, and the findings were already really positive.”
