Aston Martin is all set to make a return to the Formula One after as many as six decades. However, despite the prestige of the brand outside of F1, they are operating on a rater tight and efficient budget for their comeback season. Their new driver Sebastian Vettel, thus believes, it is reasonable to compare them to his former team Red Bull.
Vettel reckons that since the team will be relatively new on the grid, especially from the perspective of a brand, they will have to commence with the energy of an upstart side looking to probably punch above its weight and bring some of the bigger teams down. He believes that Aston Martin could perhaps learn from Red Bull's early days as a blueprint for their success in early days.
The whole thing is still a young project, says Vettel
In an interview with Motorsport Total, the German racing driver talked about what he feels about his team and its relative newness in the grid. "The whole thing is still a young project, but I believe that the omens are those that only help," he said. "The experiences that the team has had in recent years with this little I think it will only help us to manage our budget and work efficiently," he added.
Comparing Aston Martin to Red Bull, the 33-year-old said that the latter also went through a similar development phase and have gone on to achieve great heights since 2008-09.
"At Red Bull, the early days were also an extreme development phase. In 2008, 2009, Red Bull was not the same team as it is today in terms of size and so on. In that respect it is a bit comparable to the time at that time. We see it realistically and know that it is a new beginning for us," he said.
