Bangladesh’s all-format skipper, Shakib Al Hasan has risen doubts over his availability for home series against Sri Lanka. The Bangladesh veteran, who has been struggling with some eye issue has made his availability under doubt as he continues to struggle with blurred vision in his left eye since the ODI World Cup 2023.

However, the 36-year-old, who is currently taking part in the Bangladesh Premier League and plying his trade for Rangpur Riders, was asked regarding his availability for the home series. Speaking on the sidelines after Riders’ 77-run win over Sylhet Strikes on Saturday, on being asked of his participation, Shakib responded, “Time will tell.”
“We are still playing the tournament. I will speak to the officials, and then take the decision (about playing the Sri Lanka or not),” Shakib added as quoted by Cricbuzz.

The veteran all-rounder also spoke of his captaincy stint with the national side after he earlier said that he is not keen to carry on as the captain after dismal outing at the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. Speaking on the sidelines of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Shakib said, “I will take a decision in this regard (ODI captaincy) after talking with the board but we still have not discussed it.”
It is to be noted that Shakib was diagnosed with a retinal condition in his left eye after he struggled with it at the World Cup last year. Although the cricketer has been undergoing conservative treatment have also met several physicians in England as well as Singapore, he is yet to decide on it yet.
