In a big blow to Bangladesh Cricket, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has decided to miss the New Zealand series. Notably, the veteran cricketer was initially named in the squad for the upcoming tour despite informing the board on the uncertainty of his participation.

However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has granted him leave.

“We have accepted his (Shakib) request,” confirmed BCB President Nazmul Hassan. “We have been saying this for long time that we have no objection if a player wants to take a break or rest, but it has to be informed officially”, added Hassan.
