In the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 final at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, Pakistan Champions’ opener Sharjeel Khan looked excellent with his bat. Batting first after winning the toss, their captain Mohammad Hafeez elected to bat first. Within the first powerplay, wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal (two off five) and Mohammad Hafeez (17 off 10) departed without playing effective innings. Sharjeel, who is known for aggressive batting style, stepped up in the big game and took South Africa's bowling attack to the cleaners. He brought his fifty in the 10th over of the contest. Allying with Shoaib Malik, he stitched a 72-run stand for the third wicket off just 50 balls.
Sharjeel’s knock ended after notching up rapid 76 runs off just 44 balls. His innings was studded with 13 boundaries (nine fours and four maximums). Speedster Hardus Viljoen got rid of him in the 14th over. Before this game, Sharjeel was struggling to be impactful with his bat as he could score only 84 runs in four matches at an average of 28.00.
Umar Amin and Asif Ali went berserk against SA Champions bowlers in the final few overs in WCL 2025 final
In the final few overs of the innings, Umar Amin and Asif Ali hammered the South Africa Champions bowlers ruthlessly. Both built a 61-run partnership off just 31 deliveries. Asif scored 28 off 15, while Amin also amassed runs at a brisk pace. The right-handed batter smashed 36 runs with six boundaries off just 19 balls.
Riding on their batting shows, Pakistan Champions put up a huge total of 195/5 in 20 overs. Wayne Parnell was the most effective bowler for South Africa Champions as he picked up 2/32 figures in his four overs. Viljoen also got two wickets, but at an expensive economy of 9.50. Duanne Olivier also got one wicket in his four-over spell.
