Shiv Sena UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has berated the participation of retired Indian players in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, in which India Champions are scheduled to play a game against Pakistan Champions on Sunday, July 20, at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. The relationship between India and Pakistan hit a new low in April, when the terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam took place. Following the dastard incident, India took action against the terror outfits in Pakistan. During all those developments, several appeals were done to the Indian government to stop India-Pakistan cricket relations. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seemingly hasn’t shown any intention to put hold on cricket relations between both countries.

Amidst these developments, Priyanka has lambasted BCCI and the International Cricket Council (ICC) of prioritising profits over principles and ignoring the emotional and moral consequences of playing against Pakistan in the current scenario. Taking to X, she dropped a poster of WCL's upcoming high-octane match and wrote, “Absolutely shameless! Hello GoI, what happened to no engagement with Pakistan? We don't have the Pahalgam terrorists yet but here we have an Indian side desperate to resume cricket matches with Pakistan. If nothing else at least think of those families who lost their loved ones in the terror attack. Hello @BCCI, @ICC – the blood money you’ll seek shows your moral bankruptcy.”

What players will be seen in action for India Champions in WCL 2025?

India Champions will begin their WCL 2025 campaign against Pakistan Champions in Birmingham. Yuvraj Singh will be seen holding the reins of India. Besides Yuvraj, legend Harbhajan Singh, former opener Shikhar Dhawan, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, ex-Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stalwarts Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa, and Ambati Rayudu will also be seen in action.

In the previous WCL edition held in 2024, India became the champions after beating the Younis Khan-led Pakistan by five wickets in the final. This time, Shahid Afridi is handling the captaincy mantle of Pakistan Champions.
