Playing his first Test series as captain, Shubman Gill had a memorable outing in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The Indian skipper led from the front and became the highest run getter of the Test series. Although India are trailing by 1-2 in a five-match series, Gill has been impressive with the bat and it looks like he didn’t let the captaincy pressure affect his batting.
Now, Shubman Gill has achieved another great feat in the ongoing fifth Test against England at The Oval, London, where he surpassed former legendary Test captains like Virat Kohli and Sunil Gavaskar. As soon as Gill completed his 11th run on day one of the London Test, he went on to score most runs as an Indian captain in a single Test series.

Sunil Gavaskar scored 732 runs as captain during the 1978-79 Test series against West Indies, while Gill has already gone past that against England in 2025.
