As the battle between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad heated up on the field at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, their social media teams off the field went after each other too. It was a back-and-forth contest which got decided on the last ball when Abdul Samad smashed Sandeep Sharma for a six straight down the ground to hand Sunrisers a famous 4-wicket win against the Royals.

For the unversed, Sandeep Sharma was tasked with defending 16 runs off the final over in the match 52 of the Indian Premier League 2023. Eventually, he brought down the equation to 4 runs off the 1 ball. On that particular delivery, Abdul Samad was caught at long-off by Jos Buttler and everyone thought that Rajasthan Royals won the game, but for the no-ball call from the umpire as Sharma had overstepped on the popping crease. He had to re-bowl the ball, but this time, Samad scored a maximum to send shockwaves among RR players and fans alike.

Shortly afterwards, the official Twitter account of Sunrisers Hyderabad quoted the picture of umpire signalling the no-ball on a tweet made by Rajasthan Royals during the match in which they called their captain Sanju Samson bigger than the RRR movie. It was a savage repost from the SRH social media team, who are directly connected with the state of Telangana, the birthplace of Telugu cinema, from where the RRR movie came to be.

Later in the night, Rajasthan Royals social media team issued an apology of their own for their fanatic tweet and mentioned the fact that the RRR movie has reached the audiences all over the world.

Moreover, the Royals have lost 5 of their last 6 matches in the IPL and it’s highly likely that they won’t be able to qualify through to the playoffs, based on their current form. For the Sunrisers, the surreal win at the SMS Stadium has the potential to galvanise the team and put them on a winning run in their upcoming matches in the tournament.
