Talking about the legacy of Indian sports, 7 August 2021 will be the date which will forever be etched in the history books in golden words. Against all odds, Neeraj Chopra produced one of the best-ever performances by an Indian in Olympics as he went on to clinch gold medal in the men's javelin throw event at Tokyo 2020.

Competing against few of the best athletes across the globe, Neeraj was unfazed by magnitude of the occasion as he peaked when it mattered and outplayed all his competitors with an effort of 87.58m. The whole nation went berserk as 1.3 billion people, glued to their TV screens, celebrated the momentous achievement of Neeraj Chopra.

Sunil Gavaskar and Ashish Nehra celebrate the special moment

As the celebratory videos from across the nation got viral on social media, the broadcasters shared another heartwarming footage where former Indian cricketers (who were working with them on India vs England) could be seen watching the historic moment live on their TV screens.

In the video, Ajay Jadeja can be seen instantly screaming with joy when Neeraj secured the gold medal on Saturday. On the other hand, Ashish Nehra produced a hilarious celebratory dance as the happiness on his face was so clearly visible.

However, it was Sunil Gavaskar who stole the show as the 72-year-old let his emotions out as he instantly stood off his seat with his hands raised in excitement. Very soon, Gavaskar started singing the famous song 'Mere Desh Ki Dharti Sona Ugle' which was a perfect reflection of the day as the country has won a gold medal in Olympics, finally after a long wait of 13 years.

Gavaskar had jalebis with Pollock and Bhogle

Amid the pandemic, the whole country finally had a reason to smile on such a lovely day for Indian sports. It was a festive environment in India and such was the case in the broadcasters' studio as well. After watching the finals of men's javelin throw, Sunil Gavaskar returned to the commentary panel alongside Shaun Pollock and Harsha Bhogle.

However, the broadcasters were in no mood of ending the celebration so early as they sent jalebis inside the studio. It is a tradition in India where people celebrate the special moments by eating something sweet and such was the case in the studio as well. The trio were seen eating jalebis while doing commentary, which just summed up the lovely day for India.
