Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina will not be playing in the Indian Premier League or domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh. Raina has informed the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and will be playing in cricket leagues across the globe.

Raina expressed that he wants to play cricket for two-three years now. He further talked about how the Uttar Pradesh team has some young and exciting players who are ready to take the reigns. Raina has taken a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from UPCA and informed BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Vice President Rajiv Shukla about his decision. He also thanked the BCCI and UPCA for supporting him in his journey.

Raina has been an IPL legend with a massive run-tally of 5528 runs in 205 matches. But in the recent IPL auction, he was not retained by Chennai Super Kings and was not bought by any other teams. Recently, Raina has been practising at the RPL Cricket Ground in Ghaziabad as he will be playing in the Road Safety World Series starting from  September 10.

Reports further say that Apart from the RSWS, he has been in contact with leagues from South Africa, Sri Lanka, and UAE and will address his future commitments when all things are cleared out. On the international stage, Raina has scored 5615 runs in 226 ODIs with five centuries and 36 half-centuries. He has scored 768 runs in 18 test matches and has also played 78 T20 Internationals scoring 1605 runs with one century and five half-centuries.
