A sexual harassment complaint was made last week against Mrinal Basumatary, the coach and in-charge of swimming at the SAI Training Centre in Solalgaon in Assam by athletes. The statement comes after a complaint was made about the crime on Thursday at the Paltan Bazar Police Station in Guwahati. It is also being reported that, most of the athletes are underage girls who are part of the training centre.

According to a recent statement from the Sports Authority of India, they have suspended the accused coach with immediate effect due to their zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment. The exact words in the statement were, "Acting on our zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment, SAI has taken cognisance of a case of sexual harassment at the SAI training centre in Assam's Solal Gaon and has suspended the coach in question with immediate basis."

SAI authorities also stated that the matter has been referred to the Internal Committee of the regional centre of the nodal sports body and a probe has already begun. Despite having received a complaint, the police have not yet taken any action against the accused as of May 20. The police in Guwahati have declined to comment on the same.
