After world cricket was deprived of T20 World Cups for 5 consecutive years since 2016, it's time for fans to enjoy the mega event in successive years. After successful completion of the mega event in UAE in 2021, the action now shifts to Australia who will look to defend their title at home in 2022.

The T20 World Cup 2022 is set to kick off on 16 October with the grand finale slated to take place on 13 November. As per the latest information, ICC will announce the schedule of the tournament on Friday (January 21, 2022).

Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney are the venues which will host the matches during the mega event. The semi-finals will happen at Sydney Cricket Ground and Adelaide Oval, with the final taking place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

How many teams will participate in T20 World Cup 2022?

The mega event will see 16 teams fighting it out for the prestigious trophy. 8 teams which have already qualified for Super 12 stage are as follows: Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa.

For the remaining 4 slots, there will be 8 teams who will compete in Round 1 of the tournament: Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka, West Indies and 4 other teams who will qualify from global qualifiers set to take place on 17–24 February 2022 (Group A) and 8-18 July 2022 (Group B) in Oman and Zimbabwe, respectively.
