Preview

Scotland and Zimbabwe will take on each other in the 12th match of the T20 World Cup 2022. Both teams faced defeats in their second game of the group stage. While Scotland lost to Ireland as they failed to defend 176, Zimbabwe lost to West Indies as they could not chase 153. Now, the two teams will lock horns to decide who progresses to the next round of the tournament, that is the Super 12s. A loss here will mean end of the road for both teams.

Pitch Report

The pitches at Bellerive Oval often prove slow in pace early and then gradually flatten out. However, everyone gets some sort of assistance making it an even contest between bat and ball.

Team Analysis

Scotland

Scotland stunned West Indies in their opening fixture as they restricted the two-time champions way before they could reach the target. However, the tactics certainly did not work well against Ireland who easily chased down 177. Scotland batters had done a terrific job to post the highest total of T20 WC 22. Michael Jones played an absolute blinder (86 off 55 balls) and propelled Scotland to 176/5. But the bowlers could not finish it off for the team. Nevertheless, Scotland still stand a chance to qualify for the Super 12s, they will just need to beat Zimbabwe in their last group-stage fixture.

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe players celebrated wildly when they qualified for the T20 World Cup 2022, and they proved their qualification right by defeating Ireland in their opening fixture. However, the Regis Chakabva-led team could not go past West Indies in their second match. Nevertheless, the defeat did not matter much as Zimbabwe retained their position in the top two of the points table with a healthy NRR. Now, they will have an opportunity to make their inclusion count by qualifying for the Super 12s. But for that, Zimbabwe will have to defeat Scotland in their last game.

Conclusion

Zimbabwe have a strong team and all the required resources to beat Scotland. Although Scotland have ample talented players in their pool, Zimbabwe might edge them on experience front.
