Team India has been officially eliminated from Asia Cup 2022 as Pakistan defeated Afghanistan in a thrilling contest on Wednesday. With this win, the Men in Green have set up a final clash with Sri Lanka. After remaining unbeaten in the group stages, Team India suffered two back-to-back losses against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, respectively. The defeats exposed India’s weakness in defending targets. With the T20 World Cup just a month away, head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma have a lot to ponder.

After the game against Sri Lanka, Rohit revealed that the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup will almost be same as the squad for Asia Cup and only couple of more players will be added for the ICC tournament. After a poor performance with the ball, Team India is likely to recall experienced Mohammad Shami in the T20 World Cup. With Ravindra Jadeja out of the T20 World Cup, Axar Patel is likely to get a chance as an all-rounder in  Team India T20 World Cup squad.

Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, who have been recovering from injuries, will comeback in the side after getting fully fit.

The team management might take the Afghanistan game as the opportunity to try some different combination. Notably the last date to submit a preliminary squad has been set September 16 by the ICC.
