Team India advanced to the Super-4 stage of the T20 Asia Cup 2022 on Wednesday evening after winning over Hong Kong by 40 runs at Dubai International Stadium. Earlier, Rohit & Co. outplayed arch-rivals Pakistan by five-wickets to remain unbeaten in the leagues stage of the Group A matches.
While Suryakumar Yadav (68 off 26) stole the show on Wednesday with his unprecedented style of batting, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli was the biggest takeaway. After scoring 35 off 34 deliveries in the first game, Virat Kohli remained unbeaten at 59 off 44 deliveries to guide Team India to 192/2 in 20 overs against Hong Kong.
Indian cricket fans were extremely delighted to see their favourite batter in action once again as Virat appeared in great touch and smashed three maximums and one boundary during his innings.
Post-match, Virat Kohli received a team jersey from Hong Kong team with a special message for the Indian batter on it. "Virat, thank you for inspiring a generation. We stand with you! There are many incredible days ahead. With strength, with love, Team Hong Kong," read the message. T
The 33-year-old batter shared a picture of the jersey on his Instagram handle and expressed gratitude towards the Hong Kong team.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav stitched crucial 98-run partnership for the third wicket as they guided India to 192/2. Earlier, KL Rahul (36 off 39) and Rohit Sharma (21 off 13) added 38 run for the first wicket as the Indian skipper was the first one to get dismissed.
In response to the target, Hong Kong's batter Babar Hayat (41 off 35) played an impressive knock but the team got restricted to 152/5 in 20 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav was rewarded Player of the Match for his blitz knock in the first innings.
