KSI took to Twitter once again to start the banter with the Paul brothers, and this time his victim was Jake Paul as he ridiculed the fight against Nate Diaz and said fans should instead look forward to his match against Tommy Fury in October. The Paul v Diaz fight is being criticized for lacking sufficient boxing technical ability between the two of them, with one being an influencer and the other an MMA artist. KSI thinks that his fight against Tommy Fury, who is actually a boxer first, will be much more exciting for fight fans.
Fury, who handed Jake Paul his only career loss this year by split decision, is the one and only actual boxer that Jake Paul has fought. All of Paul’s other fights have been against aging and, sometimes, retired MMA artists who may not have the most proficiency in boxing. This is a fact that critics won’t let Jake Paul forget until he fights and defeats a career boxer. The Diaz fight, like many of Paul’s other battles, was lacking and his opponent looked slow and unsure of themselves for much of the bout. While Diaz managed to string together some hits towards the end, the fight was decided through Jake Paul’s early round dominance which handed the influencer a win by unanimous decision.
KSI took the opportunity to take shots at Jake Paul. This will come as a surprise to nobody that has followed the two, given their extensive history together as rivals. The feud really began in the early days of the influencer boxing phenomenon when KSI fought Jake’s brother Logan twice, drawing once and beating him by split decision the second time. Jake hasn’t been able to let that era go, and still hopes to take revenge.
Jake said, “I was seeing him and he was like drinking from the bottle, whilst I was sitting there sober. He was talking with his friends about the loss and I saw how badly it hurt him. In that same sprinter van ride, he grabbed me by the neck and said 'you have to beat KSI for our family’.”
Their bitterness has got to the point where KSI has stated that he “would slap Jake Paul if he happened to see him in real life”.
Feud over Tommy Fury bout continues
Jake Paul’s loss to Tommy Fury was a significant moment in his career not only because it was his first loss but also because of how much fuel it gave his biggest haters.
In the build up to making KSI vs Tommy Fury a reality, KSI tweeted, “What you waiting for @tommytntfury? Sign the damn contract and let me show you the difference between me and that fraud who only wins against retired MMA pensioners.”
Paul responded by saying, “This clown…tried to fight [Dillon Danis] who has never boxed and put a rehydration clause on him. Fought a 40-year-old who hadn’t fought for 3 years and put a rehydration clause on him before elbowing him. Now trying to squeeze Tommy. I elevated Tommy, my son is now worth a lot more than the $1.5M offers you making. Tommy, February we run it back.”
KSI not only has an issue with Jake’s boxing, but he just doesn’t like him as a person. During an interview with Ariel Helwani, he said, “I don’t know, we’ve kind of just hated each other for so many years. I think there are several reasons, but because I don’t really dwell on it until it’s time, so I don’t really know. I think it’s ego. It’s one of the ones where he thinks he’s better than me, I think he’s trash.”
