Lucknow Super Giants suffered their defeat in IPL 2025 after losing against Punjab Kings by 37 runs in match number 54 of the season in Dharamshala. Chasing a big target of 237 runs, LSG were restricted to 199/7 in their 20 overs. However, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant still remains confident of qualifying into the playoffs after winning their next three matches. LSG suffered three defeats in a row and are placed at seventh spot in the points table with five wins and six losses.
LSG’s next three games are against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively and they need to win all three to keep themselves alive in the tournament. However, Rishabh Pant confident for winning all three matches and getting into the playoffs. “Definitely too many runs. When you gonna drop crucial catches at the wrong time, it is going to hurt you badly. We thought it was going to do more. We didn't pick the length right at the start. That's part and parcel of the game. The dream is still alive. If we gonna win the next three matches, we definitely can turn it around,” Pant said at the post–match presentation as quoted by Cricbuzz.
PBKS enter top–2 after win against LSG, on brink getting into playoffs after 2014
Punjab Kings also made a huge jump in the points table as they now reached the second spot in the points table after a 37-run win over LSG. They have now seven wins and three losses with one of their match washed out in rain. With this win, PBKS are on the verge of getting into the playoffs for the first time after 2014.
For PBKS, Prabhsimran Singh turned out to be a star as the opening batter smashed 91 runs off 48 balls. With the help of his knock, PBKS posted 236/5 on board and restricted LSG to 199/7 to get their seventh win of the season.
