India bowled out Bangladesh for 227 in their first innings but found themselves in all sorts of trouble when Taijul Islam dismissed the top three batters. The Bangladesh spinner first got KL Rahul. Islam shortly dismissed Shubman Gill and then accounted for Cheteshwar Pujara. With India reeling at 72/3, Rishabh Pant came into bat alongside Virat Kohli. The wicketkeeper batter slowly built his inning as he knocked a few deliveries around.
However, as Virat Kohli too fell right after the lunch break, Pant decided to take on Bangladesh bowlers. He hit Khaled Ahmed for a couple of boundaries. Pant then smoked Taijul Islam for a six and followed it by a quick brace to bring up his half-century in just 49 balls.
With Pant playing the counterpunch innings once again, fans were all praise for the wicketkeeper batter. While a few called him ‘The Saviour’, a few loved Pant’s approach on a tricky surface.
