Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan revealed how Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli’s rift ended and what led to their hug during the game between RCB and KKR. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns on March 29 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. Former RCB captain Virat Kohli and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir ended their infamous IPL 2023 rivalry by hugging each other during the game.
For the unversed, Kohli and Gambhir engaged in a furious on-field rift during the IPL 2023 match between RCB and LSG. Gambhir was the mentor of the Lucknow-based franchise in the previous season of the tournament. While fans were expecting another blow to the heated incident in their recent match, both Kohli and Gambhir showed maturity and hugged it out to put an end to the rift.
Former Indian cricketer and Gautam Gambhir’s teammate Irfan Pathan commented on the incident. Pathan told Star Sports, “Gautam Gambhir, the senior guy, actually came forward. Sometimes you cross the line but as soon as that thing has gone past, when you meet in the future, when you meet now, you meet nicely.”
Speaking of the match, Kolkata Knight Riders, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, defeated hosts Royal Challengers Bengaluru by a margin of seven wickets. Kolkata batters put in a remarkable performance as a unit and helped the side move past the victory line. With the win, they became the first team to secure an away win in the IPL 2024.
