India and Pakistan share a long history and a great cricket rivalry. The two teams have been involved in many thrilling matches over the years, the latest of which came on 4 September. India and Pakistan locked horns in a Super 4s match of Asia Cup 2022 last Sunday. Although Pakistan won the encounter by five wickets, it was not an easy win for the Men in Green.
Indian bowlers did make things troublesome in the last few overs but eventually, it was a victory for Babar Azam and Co. However, apart from the match, there was another thing that caught the attention of the fans. A Pakistani fan was seen waving the Indian flag. The video of the girl waving the tricolour went viral on social media and it was found out that it was former Pakistan cricketer, Shahid Afridi’s daughter.
Afridi himself confirmed on national television that the incident did take place and also explained the reason behind it. The former Pakistan all-rounder revealed that her daughter waved an Indian flag because there was no Pakistani flag available at the stadium. He said that his wife informed him later and there was only ten per cent of Pakistan fans in the stadium during the match.
"My wife told me that there were barely 10% Pakistani fans in the stadium and the rest were Indian fans. Pakistani flags were not available there so my younger daughter was waving the Indian flag. I received the video, but I was unsure about whether to share it online or not," Afridi said in his latest YouTube video.
Coming to Pakistan and India’s journey at the Asia Cup 2022, while the Men in Green strengthened their position with two wins in three Super 4 matches and will play the final against Sri Lanka on Sunday (11 September), India were knocked out of the tournament after two consecutive losses against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
