Rishabh Pant coming to bat on the second day became the highlight moment on the fourth Test between England and India at Old Trafford in Manchester. England were upbeat when their captain Ben Stokes struck in the 102nd over to remove Shardul Thakur, who played a good hand, making 41 off 88. They would have thought they had a way into the tail. But it was Pant who came down the stairs, grabbing onto the railing, every step taken with extreme care. His courage was celebrated with applause ringing around Old Trafford. BCCI revealed that he has fractured his toe, he was not supposed to be on his feet, let alone continue playing the Test match in Manchester.
Adding to it, he scored a fifty, and Rishabh Pant now has the joint-most sixes for India in Test cricket and the most runs by a wicketkeeper in a Test series. Not only fans but many former players like Yusuf Pathan and Suresh Raina among others lauded the efforts made by Rishabh Pant and his team-first attitude, along with senior broadcaster Harsha Bhogle joining in. While talking about Pant’s efforts on the field, Bhogle wrote, “I have been fortunate to have seen some great moments in cricket. But to see Rishabh Pant walking out to bat with a broken toe and seeing the warmth with which everyone reacted was as emotional as anything I have seen.”

Batting on the first day of the Manchester Test, Rishabh Pant got injured and the pain was so excruciating that he left the field retired hurt. In an attempt to reverse sweep the ball by Chris Woakes, he couldn’t establish contact with the ball. England took a review seeking his dismissal, but the edge on snick-o-meter led to him being not out. But he limped after that and appeared to be in lot of pain, after further examination by the physio it was decided that Rishabh Pant couldn’t continue to day one.

A golf cart ambulance was used to take him off the field as he was facing difficulty walking. Pant came to bat on the second day after Shardul Thakur’s wicket and played a valiant knock of 54 before the Old Trafford crowd applauded him and he also earned praise on social media.
