The next name that can be a potential replacement for Iyer is Rajasthan Royals captain Samju Samson. Samson was in great form in the 2022 season, where he scored 284 runs, averaging 7.10. In July 2022, Samson was picked for the ODI squad during India’s Tour of West Indies, where he scored his maiden fifty in the second match of the series. Not only this but Samson was also named Man of the Match during the second ODI against Zimbabwe in July 2022. Following that, Samson was named in India’s ODI contingent against South Africa and ended up scoring an unbeaten 86.
Samson was dropped from the ODI squad after the New Zealand tour in November 2022 and hasn’t played a 50-over game since then. Overall, Samson has proved himself time and again in the ODI format, and hence, including him in the squad would prove fruitful to the team.
