The IPL 2022 is just around the corner as the biggest T20 carnival is about to take centre stage once again. The tournament will be held in India between March 26 and May 29. Each year the race for the Orange Cap in the IPL is always fascinating as not only Indian but overseas batsmen dream about winning it. The Orange Cap is awarded to the highest run-scorer in a particular season of the tournament. To win the Orange Cap, a player has to be extremely consistent throughout an IPL season, and at the same time score runs at a good pace.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is one such franchise that will have a lot of lethal batters in their arsenal this season. The likes of AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and KL Rahul have previously served the Bangalore franchise exceptionally well with the bat. Even in the current season, Bangalore franchise has secured the services of some top-notch batters in the world who have the potential to leave opponent bowlers clueless.

Let's have a look at 3 RCB players who can win the Orange Cap:

Virat Kohli

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper is the leading run-getter in the history of IPL. Kohli in the last few editions of the IPL hasn’t been at his best but has still scored a majority of the runs for his side. In 2016, Kohli activated his beast mode and the world witnessed a genius at work as he won the orange cap by slamming 973 runs. Kohli will definitely in the race of the orange cap holders in IPL 2022 as he plays as an anchor for his side and scores runs consistently.

Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis was the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2022. He was only beaten by his fellow teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad, who won the orange cap award by just 2 runs, but it did not matter as their side Chennai Super Kings won the IPL trophy. Faf du Plessis scored 633 runs in IPL 2021 and was a key player who led CSK to victory last season. 2021 was also Faf du Plessis’ best IPL season ever.

Glenn Maxwell

After having a poor run in IPL 2020, scoring just 108 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 101.88 and not hitting a single six through the entire tournament, he was released by KXIP. After RCB signed him up in the auction, he played a very important role in their campaign of IPL 2021. He was their leading run-scorer, scoring 513 runs in the entire tournament. In the recently conducted BBL as well, he was in a golden touch and went unbeaten in one match with a score of 154 runs in 64 balls. He will once again be a crucial player for RCB in their hopes of winning a maiden IPL trophy.
