Team India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul redeemed himself after fans and many cricketers lashed out at him after his poor knock in recent games for the side. He earned his place back in the side after his match-winning knock of unbeaten 75 and some brilliant fielding during the first ODI of the three-match series on March 17 at the Wankhede Stadium.
Not only this, KL Rahul also stitched a crucial 100-plus run partnership with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (45*). This time it wasn’t just fans and cricketers looking at KL, but wife Athiya Shetty also heaped praise with a special message. “To the most resilient person I know…#klrahul,” Athiya wrote in her Instagram story with a video of the two unbeaten batters hugging each other in the middle.
Speaking of the match, India clinched the first ODI going 1-0 up in the three-match series on Friday (March 17) at the Wankhede Stadium. While KL Rahul stood firm in the middle after India bundled out Australia at the score of 188, thanks to brilliant spells from Mohammed Siraj and Mohammad Shami.
The two sides will now lock horns in the second ODI, which is scheduled to take place at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on March 19.
