During the build-up to the blockbuster clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2024, Virat Kohli and Rinku Singh were having a chat at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. When Rinku Singh informed Virat Kohli about breaking the bat that he had gifted him recently, the former Indian captain wasn’t interested in getting to know the information and said, “Toh main kya karu bhai.”

Notably, Virat Kohli had gifted a bat to Rinku Singh at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru after Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets earlier in the IPL 2024 season. On that disappointing night for RCB, Virat Kohli had scored 83 off 59 with four fours and four maximums, but his innings was far from enough to challenge the power-packed batting performance in the run chase from KKR.

Prior to Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru meeting for the second time in the IPL 2024, a video has gone viral wherein Virat Kohli and Rinku Singh were discussing a broken bat.

  • Rinku: Spinner par toot gaya bat. (The bat got broken while playing against the spinner.)
  • Virat: Mera bat? (My bat?)
  • Rinku: Haa. (Yes.)
  • Virat: Spinn er mein tod diya tune? Kaha se toota? (You broke it against a spinner? Where did it get broken?)
  • Rinku: Ye fat gaya pura idhar se. (It got broken from here.)
  • Virat: Toh main kya karu bhai? (So what should I do?)
  • Rinku: Kuch nahi, main bata raha tha. (Nothing, I was just informing you.)
  • Virat: Koi nahi, bata diya tune badhiya hai. Mujhe information nahi chahiye. (No problem, it’s good that you told me. But I don’t need the information.)

Afterwards, when Rinku Singh asked Virat Kohli to give him another bat, the RCB opening batter told him about the consequences he faced later after giving away his bats to other players. It led to Rinku promising not to break a bat again to Kohli before asking him to show the broken bat elsewhere.

Here is the clip of Virat Kohli and Rinku Singh talking about the broken bat:
