Former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson has been reportedly released on his own recognizance after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a massive accident in Hollywood. Ferguson was apprehended after his Silverado crashed into at least two other vehicles and flipped over near Sunset Boulevard as per the Los Angeles Police Department.

The incident occurred while he was driving south on Wilcox Avenue around 1:47 a.m. Since then the police have confirmed that Ferguson had passengers with him, but no one was harmed in the incident. Now as per a recent development, El Cucuy’s bond was initially set at $30,000 but was since released at 12:12 local time on OR. 


This alludes to the fact that Fergusson was released without the requirement of posting bail, based on a documented commitment to appear in court when required. The development was shared by MMA Junkie. Further reports by LA Times also state that Ferguson didn’t cooperate with the police after the crash as he refused to take the sobriety test as per the LAPD. 


No punishment has been confirmed for the form UFC champ but speculation says that the 39-year-old’s driving license would be suspended due to his actions. TMZ reports also suggest that one of the cars involved in the crash belonged to rapper Cash Gotti, who came out of the club to find his Mercedes destroyed.

Tony Ferguson has been in the UFC since 2011 and has been one of the lightweight fighters over the past decade and holds a 26-8-0 record. In his most recent fight, El Cucuy lost to Nate Diaz in UFC 279 in Las Vegas on September 10 2022.
